FEDERS Air Conditioning and Heating Services

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio

On January 23, 2006 the federal minimum efficiency standard for new central air conditioners made in the U.S. was raised to 13 SEER – a 30% increase over the last standard.

Feders will continue to service units not meeting the minimum standards. The new standard only applies to systems manufactured after January 23, 2006.

Today’s 13 SEER minimum efficiency law is just the latest challenge in an ever changing energy conscious environment.

Annual maintenance during the heating and cooling seasons will ensure your unit operates efficiently. Feders Planned Maintenance Service helps to ensure your system operates at peak efficiency all year long.

Systems installed prior to 1992 could be highly inefficient by today’s standards. Current units rated less than 13 SEER may continue operating for years. However, once the industry depletes the supply of compatible parts, breakdown of units less than 13 SEER that cannot be repaired will require an upgrade to 13 SEER or higher.

Feders is your SEER 13 expert. Ask us today to find out what this change will mean to you. You can also obtain additional information online through the Department of Energy at www.energy.gov.

Once your unit is 13 SEER or above efficient, it’s likely you will see real savings on your energy consumption.
